Membership is scoped to a project. Open Settings → Workspace → Members, then use the project picker to choose the project you want to manage. The page lists current members, their base tier, assigned custom roles, and join date. The controls you see depend on your own role and permissions.

Invite a member

Email invitations require outgoing email to be configured for Orbit.
  1. Under Invite by email, enter one email address.
  2. Choose Admin, Member, or Viewer as the base tier.
  3. If you can assign roles, optionally select one or more custom roles.
  4. Select Invite.
Repeat these steps for each additional person. Orbit currently sends one invitation per submission. An invitation lasts for seven days and must be accepted by an account with the invited email address. Someone without an account can register from the invitation flow; after signing in or registering, accepting the link adds them to the project with the selected roles.
Orbit cannot send invitations when email is disabled. A member who already has an invitation token can paste it into Join with invitation code on the Members page.

Manage pending invitations

Owners and Admins can review pending invitations, including the inviter, base tier, custom roles, and expiration date. Select Revoke to invalidate an invitation before it is accepted. Sending another invitation to the same pending email replaces the earlier invitation with a new token and expiration date.

Change a member’s access

Open the role control beside a member to:
  • change their base tier to Admin, Member, or Viewer;
  • assign or remove any project-specific custom roles.
Changing the base tier replaces the member’s previous system role but keeps separately assigned custom roles. Custom-role controls require Assign roles access, which is separate from changing a base tier. The Owner’s base tier cannot be changed. Other controls may be hidden or disabled when your role does not grant the required member or role-management permission.

Remove a member

Owners and Admins can normally remove any non-owner member by selecting the remove button beside that person. Removing membership also removes the person’s role assignments for that project; it does not delete their Orbit account. The Owner must transfer ownership before they can be removed.

Transfer ownership

Only the current Owner can transfer ownership:
  1. In the Ownership section, select Transfer ownership.
  2. Choose an existing project member.
  3. Confirm the transfer.
The selected member becomes Owner with full, unconditional control. The previous Owner becomes an Admin. Ownership transfer is project-specific and does not affect either person’s access elsewhere.
The new Owner can delete the project and transfer ownership again. Review the selected person before confirming.
